What the Duck, Matt Lauer!?

Of all people. Of all shows. How many other shoes will drop here?! Matt Lauer… what the Duck is going on here! I remember Jane Pauley on the Today show while eating cereal (the breakfast of champions) in front of the television as a kid. Listening to the Today Show, while being too young to understand the news. Throughout all phases of life, countless anchors, and news cycles, these are the people we let into our mornings. They become “friends” in a sense. There voices in good news and bad resonate over scrambled eggs and coffee. Whether they chose it or not, the end up on a morning pedestal. Fast forward to satellite radio, and they even travel with us to work, or school, or wherever we go. Pocket informants to keep us in the know.

So, Matt Lauer becomes part of a bigger wave. Why is this all just coming to light? As women, we want to empower other women. We preach it, we live it, and we promote it. So, why… why is it so hard to have the confidence to come forward at the time of these incidents? Why do we, women, feel threatened by the truth? We have the chance to “save” other women by telling our stories. However, telling your story of sexual abuse, misconduct, or harassment years later saved no one who came after us. Why are we, as women, intimidated by these situations. We are better than the fear of truth, aren’t we?

Girl Power, during elections and allegations emerges publicly, but not personally?
I am a mom to boys. I wonder if my thoughts would be different if I had girls? However, I am a girl. I get it. As divided as we, as a culture, are… is as divided as we, women, are. It is life. Choices, options, decisions. They affect ourselves, and other kind.

God did not create us with strength only for us to live in weakness. Believing in Him, is believing in yourself. The person He molded becomes yourself. You walk with Him, but ultimately you decide your turns. You pray, you hope, you live.

What the Duck, Matt Lauer?! I pray for you. I pray for the women. I pray for the rest of us who had coffee with you, “friend,” Mostly, I pray for the world.

For heavens sake, must I spike my coffee to get through the news?!?!
