GOD Bless America…

The building behind the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

History, in the shape of the cross.

Yes, I said it. GOD, in all caps, Bless America. The phrase, the song, the words… These words seem to be long forgotten in our country.  On a recent trip to Washington, DC with my family, I was so relieved to see it everywhere. “God bless America,” “In God we Trust,” “One Nation, Under God…” Yes, it is everywhere in our nation’s capital. It seems that we, as Americans, have spent an entire history divided. We have battled for states, for rights, for justice… and we’re still fighting. In all things, and all of history of this great nation, have we honored God?  Or have we become a self-centered nation of further divisiveness via the what we see and hear. Listen, people… I urge you to learn outside of the television. Read a book. Visit our capital city. Take a tour of the buildings which built our nation and continue to run it today. Learn on your own, instead of taking on the opinions of the “squeaky wheel.” That sort of wheel never gets us anywhere, does it?!

Are we, as a nation, failing our children? Do we teach them to be divisive and self-centered? Or do we teach them the history Presidents and each one’s challenges.   (AND, the fact that each one was elected by majority throughout time).   Meaning, they have all not been loved. Some have failed, some were dishonest, some were downright *ssholes. As the oath goes they have, ‘to the best of their ability,’ ‘faithfully executed’ the office of the Presidency. Or, at least they have taken that vow.

Point being, teach your children the history of our great nation. God is everywhere in most of the early writings that are still spoken today.  Don’t like the man?  Fine.  But respect the office. Or, just suck it up and pray.  Personally, it has been a very long time since I have “liked” a President;  but, I am not screaming into a megaphone with picket signs outside of the White House because the chips didn’t fall as I voted. So I resign to honor the history, under God, of this great nation.
